Washington National Cathedral, Washington DC

The workshop will take place at the Washington National Cathedral. Located at Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues in Washington, DC, this beautiful Gothic cathedral is the sixth largest in the world. Flying buttresses, gargoyles, crypts, a 98-foot vaulted ceiling and many intimate chapels contribute to this architectural masterpiece. The grounds invite exploration with curving walkways, well-kept hedges and spacious lawns from which to view the city. It is the second largest cathedral in the United States and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Cathedral College

Lodging  will be available at the historic Cathedral College. We are thrilled to be able to offer housing on the grounds of Washington National Cathedral this year. Room space is very limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please reserve early!

Cathedral College, formerly known as The College of Preachers, was established in the 1920s as a center of study for the Episcopal clergy. Located on the grounds of Washington National Cathedral, the "collegiate-gothic" style building provides a dormitory-like setting which resembles an English  boarding school.

The College has, in the main building and the adjacent guest house, a total of bed space for 27. The rooms use no keys. The College is fully air-conditioned. There are no phones or televisions in the rooms. There are some rooms with private bath but generally bathrooms are shared. Cathedral College is a non-smoking facility and is not fully handicapped accessible.

Some rooms have one twin bed and some have two twin beds. Of the rooms with two twin beds, 2 have a private bath. Three rooms have double beds, one with a private bath, and another room has a queen bed. The two suites have a king or queen sized bed, private bath, a sitting room, and a telephone. The “Tower” suite – well known by clergy and conference leaders – has a spectacular view of the city, especially in winter when there are no leaves on the trees.

Catered meals will also be available this year. We urge you to take advantage of having meals together in the Cathedral College. There is little time to run off campus to get something to eat and dining together is a relaxing social time.

Please see the "fees and details" page for lodging and meal costs.
